Study abroad

International Legal Studies offers the possibility to substitute courses from the module plan for courses successfully completed at another University abroad or during an internship abroad. A stay abroad can teach students new languages, connect with people from all over the world, get in touch with local knowledge and gain a lot of experiences.

During a year abroad, a student may attend courses in English, with a similar focus to the ones enjoined in this additional study program.

The students are obliged to inform themselves regarding alternative courses and possible ECTS-substitutions. For additional information and support the students can inquire the International Office at the University of Bayreuth.

A stay abroad, whether as a semester abroad or an internship, has many incentives beyond the crediting of courses. You get to know people from all over the world, expand your knowledge in language and law and gain a lot of experience. If you have any questions or need more details about applying for a semester abroad, take a look here.

Recognition and Crediting Process

Have you already completed courses, which are eligible for the ILS study program, and would like to credit these towards the completion of ILS? Then you can follow this link to the form, which is to be filled out and sent to internationallegalstudies@uni-bayreuth.de.

For courses completed at the University of Bayreuth, the Confirmation of enrolment as well as the Transcript of Records are to be sent together with the filled-out form.

As for courses completed outside of the University of Bayreuth the Confirmation of enrolment at the foreign University, proof of examination performance, module description, an excerpt from the course catalog and an outline of the course are to be sent to us, together with the filled-out form.

If you are unsure, whether a course may be credited for ILS, you can have a look at the module manual here. In case you cannot find the course in this manual but believe that it might still fit the ILS study program, feel free to contact us through Email (internationallegalstudies@uni-bayreuth.de) or drop by our consultation hour.
